The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) says it will be stepping up operations in town centres across the island for the Christmas season.

Executive Director of the NSWMA, Audley Gordon, says starting December 15, the agency will be carrying out night collections in commercial areas between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and midnight.

He says the Agency will be looking at more night collections for the major town centres where there’s heavy shopping.

Mr. Gordon says the agency will be working closely with the municipal corporations in the operations.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gordon is appealing to the public to work with the NSWMA in the proper disposal of waste material.

He’s assuring that the public cleansing agency will be keeping to its regular collection schedule for residential areas during the Christmas period.
