Director General of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, ODPEM, Richard Thompson, says the country is in a heightened state of readiness in the event of a tropical storm.
Speaking on Nationwide at Five on Thursday, Mr. Thompson says the national response team has been activated.
Mr. Thompson says shelter managers have been placed on stand-by to open shelters islandwide under instruction of the municipal corporations.

ODPEM is advising the public to continue taking the necessary precautions in light of the forecast.
These include evacuating from low-lying or flood-prone areas, avoiding flooded roads and water-ways and turning off all electrical power, gas and water supplies in areas that are in immediate danger.
