Transport Minister, Daryl Vaz, says he’s written to the operators of the country’s two main international airports requesting a meeting on Monday.
The move by the minister follows two major incidents, one each, at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kinston, and the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

In the latest incident, flights destined for the Sangster airport in St James had to be redirected due to an eight hour closure of the runway.
Officials have since indicated that issues with asphalt on the runway caused the closure.
In July, operations at the Norman Manley airport were delayed following a power outage. Officials at the Kingston-based airport said the initial outage was due to planned maintenance.
The issues at the island’s main international airports have triggered concerns among stakeholders, leading to the meeting request by Minister Vaz.
