Opposition Spokesman on Water and Housing, Dr. Horace Chang, says the Water Ministry should seek to find permanent solutions to the piped water shortage now plaguing the country.
Making a Ministerial statement in the House of Representatives yesterday, Water and Environment Minister Robert Pickersgill indicated that the just ended traditional rainy period of May to June produced very little of the expected rainfall.
He said the situation was quickly becoming critical.

According to Dr. Chang, the Ministry has wasted time in not making the capital budget for water a priority.
Dr. Chang says the Ministry has also failed to access funds that are available to get the process started.
