The Office of Utilities Regulation, OUR, has rejected the Jamaica Public Service Company’s, JPS, Tariff Review application.

In a statement this afternoon, the OUR says the application was rejected because of the absence of critical information and supporting documentation from the JPS.

The OUR says the application was rejected under Schedule 3, paragraph 7 of the Electricity Licence of 2016.

As a result of this decision, the public consultations on the JPS tariff proposal scheduled to start next Tuesday, have been postponed.

The JPS applied for a rate review from the OUR on July 31.

In making their application, the light and power company said customers would have seen an average increase of 3.2%.
