Opposition Spokesman on Housing, Dr. Horace Chang, says the National Housing Trust should not have used its resources to purchase the attraction, Outameni Experience, in Trelawny.
Outameni is a tourist attraction on the historic Orange Grove property near Falmouth.
The NHT has acquired the 10 acre property for $180-million.
It plans to spend an additional $111-million to upgrade the property over the next three years.
Dr. Chang says he’s not opposed to the government stepping in to rescue the operation.
However he says it shouldn’t be done with NHT funds.
Dr. Chang says the money should have been used to build houses for NHT contributors.
