Minister of Finance Peter Phillips says more than 2,560 vacant civil service posts were abolished for the year 2015 as part of the governments move reduce it’s wage bill.

Speaking in the House Representatives yesterday Dr. Phillips says more posts will be abolished alongside natural attrition.

Last year Financial Secretary Devon Wint, had spoken of plans by the Ministry to reduce the overall civil service wage bill, with many speculating of possible wholesale job cuts.

But today Minister Phillips was adamant that only voluntary separation would be pursued in collaboration with trade unions.
