Director of the Pan American Health Organization, PAHO, Dr Carissa Etienne, says 26 countries have so far received over 2.6 million COVID-19 vaccines from PAHO’s Revolving Fund.

Speaking at PAHO’s weekly media briefing, Dr. Etienne says so far the region has seen nearly 22 million people driven into poverty as a result of the pandemic.

Dr Etienne noted that Jamaica is among the Caribbean countries currently experiencing a dip in coronavirus cases.

As such, the PAHO director has developed an interactive platform where regional countries are able to track their vaccine mobility.

She says countries using the platform can visualize the measures that were implemented and compare that with how mobility has behaved over time.

The PAHO Director says over 15 countries have so far used the platform to inform their pandemic response.
