Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr Carissa Etienne, says countries must continue to work together to prevent the spread of COVID 19.

Speaking at PAHO’s first COVID 19 press briefing for the year, Dr Etienne says virtually every country in the Americas has seen a significant increase in the virus’s spread.

Dr Etienne says efforts to stop the virus could determine the course of the new year.

She says despite the development of vaccines for the region, public health measures remain our best bet at controlling the virus.

She says, in future, there are are three priorities countries must consider in order to control the pandemic.
