The House of Representatives has approved an extension of the Zones of Special Operations, ZOSOs, in five communities across the island.
The Zones were extended for a further 60 days in Norwood and Mount Salem in St. James, Greenwich Town, and August Town in St. Andrew, as well as Denham Town in West Kingston.
National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, told the House last evening that the Zones are working.
The ZOSOs rely on the clear, hold and build strategy to improve crime-plagued communities across the island.
The Security Minister says the strategy will result in sustainable community development in the areas now under a zone.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, says there’s a need for more attention to be paid to the relationships being formed in the areas by the security forces.
The Opposition Leader is also urging the security forces to take a closer look at the locations the checkpoints are established within the ZOSOs.
