Opposition Spokesman on Finance and Planning, Dr. Peter Phillips, is defending the People’s National Party’s selections for its Council of Spokespersons.
Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller named the 22 spokespersons and 9 deputies on Friday, noting that they are not intended to specifically shadow the Cabinet.
Some of the selections, such as North West St. Ann MP, Dr. Dayton Campbell as spokesman on Agriculture, have raised some eyebrows.
But Dr. Phillips says he is a good fit for the portfolio.
Dr. Phillips says all the spokespersons were chosen from both houses of Parliament.
As such, he says younger politicians, such as former MPs Raymond Pryce and Damion Crawford, and former Senator Imani Duncan Pryce, were not snubbed.
