President of the Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association, Steven Broadbelt, says plans are far advanced for the establishment of a 50-metres pool on the Island.

Broadbelt says progress on the project stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He made the comment at the recent Tornadoes Invitational swim meet at the stadium pool.

Broadbelt says not having a 50-metres pool has put their swimmers at a disadvantage.

He says having an Olympic sized pool will open opportunities to host international meets.
