Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will tomorrow host a meeting of all members of parliament at Jamaica House to update them on crucial public health matters.
The meeting is set for 11-tomorrow morning.
The e-mailed invitations, sent by Information Minister Senator Sandrea Falconer, requests that all 63 MPs convene in the banquet hall at the Office of the Prime Minister.
The government’s response to the Chikungunya outbreak and its preparedness for the deadly Ebola virus are understood to be at the top of the agenda.
The meeting will also be attended by members of the national disaster response team
The Prime Minister has taken charge of of the government’s response to the Chik-V outbreak in the wake of the criticism levelled at her Health Minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson from several quarters.
Mrs. Simpson Miller has activated a National Response Mechanism to coordinate the spending of the half-a-billion dollars allocated to the Chik-V and Ebola action plan.
The Prime Minister has also spearheaded a national cleanup campaign to rid communities of mosquito breeding sites.
