Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, is to address the country shortly, outlining an ‘all of government’ response to crime.
National Security Minister, Robert Montague, gave the indication while addressing the House of Representatives yesterday. He says crime is affecting everyone, adding that people should unite and treat national security as a ‘personal issue’.
The government continues to face criticism over the increasing murder rate.
With more than 11-hundred people killed so far this year, murders have increased by more than 20-percent compared to last year.
In a statement yesterday, Opposition Spokesman on National Security, Fitz Jackson, says there remains an urgent need for a crime plan that considers not only special zones of operations but all aspects of national life.
Minister Montague is reiterating while murders and shootings have increased, overall crime is declining.
