President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions, Helene Davis-Whyte, says Prime Minister Andrew Holness should reconsider his decision to allow mining in the Dry Harbour Mountain.

She says Prime Minister Holness should be guided by the scientific data.

Ms. Davis-Whyte notes that political leaders have on several occasions prioritised development over the the environment.

Meanwhile, Bio-Geochemist, Marine Biologist and President of the Global Coral Reef Alliance, Dr. Thomas Goreau, says environmentalists have been calling for the Dry Harbour Mountain to be classified as a World Heritage Climate Change Site.
