The Opposition, People’s National Party, is asserting that the sub-contractors involved in the $600-million islandwide bushing programme have connections to the governing, JLP.
The PNP has been questioning whether the public sector procurement rules were adhered to in the selection of the contractors and sub- contractors.
General Secretary in waiting of the PNP, Julian Robinson wants a detailed break down of the project by constituency.

And, the Chairman of the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation’s Finance Committee, Hubert Ryan, says the PNP caucus of the Council will be taking a strong stance in light of the action of the government.

Yesterday, JLP General Secretary Dr Horace Chang said it was merely a coincidence that the bushing exercise was being carried out days before the local government election.
