Opposition Senator, Sophia Frazer Binns, is calling on the government to establish a special tribunal to try environmental cases.
The Senator says far too often, environmental issues end up languishing in the courts.
She says the importance of climate change and the impact on the lives and livelihoods of Jamaicans requires environmental matters to be taken seriously.
Senator Frazer-Binns, says the tribunal can be funded from the proceeds of the environmental levy which is currently paid directly into the consolidated fund.
