Several high profile candidate selection processes in the governing PNP and the opposition JLP, are scheduled to be held on the weekend.

On Saturday nearly 500 PNP delegates will be asked to choose between the incumbent MP, Damion Crawford and political activist, Peter Blake, in East Rural St. Andrew.

While the main voting exercise is set for Saturday, the PNP Secretariat has made provision for Sabbath keepers to vote on Thursday.

Mr. Crawford declined to comment when contacted by our news centre, while efforts to reach Mr. Blake have been unsuccessful.

But one delegate, Pat Morgan, is urging her colleagues to keep faith with Mr. Crawford as the PNP’s flagbearer in the constituency.

Meanwhile the candidate selection process involving South East St. Ann MP Lisa Hanna and Councilor, Lydia Richards, is also set for Saturday.

It’s not immediately clear whether that contest will go ahead as planned.

Calls placed this afternoon to the mobile phone of PNP General Secretary, Paul Burke, went unanswered.
