The governing PNP, is this afternoon congratulating delegates of the Jamaica Teachers Association for accepting the government’s wage offer for the 2015-2017 contract period.

In an almost 2-to-1 vote, JTA delegates attending the annual conference in St. James, voted yesterday to accept the 7% wage increase offer.

In a statement today, the PNP says it appreciates that other groups are still reviewing the offer.

But it says it hopes they’ll be guided by the fact that the administration has tabled the best offer.

The PNP says if it weren’t for the investment of confidence, patriotism and personal sacrifice of public sector employees, the country’s Economic Recovery Programme would have been even more challenging.

It says the healthy partnership that exists among the government, private sector, public sector and other stakeholders will ensure collective success as a country.

This, as it says the administration is committed to creating a stronger economy.
