The governing People’s National Party says it will make a statement tomorrow on the fate of the former Mayor of Lucea, Shernet Haughton.
PNP General Secretary, Paul Burke, says the party’s National Executive Council discussed the issue at a meeting last night.
He says a decision was made.
The Office of the Contractor General says Ms. Haughton is guilty of nepotism in a public office and breaching government guidelines.
But the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, says while the former Mayor’s conduct amounted to nepotism there’s no basis for any criminal charge.
The DPP, Paula Llewelyn, has recommended that strong action be taken against Ms. Haughton at the level of the parish council.
