The PNP says it’s deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Winston ‘Winty’ Davidson.

The distinguished public health specialist died on Sunday morning at the University Hospital of the West Indies.

In a statement on Monday the PNP says his passing marks the end of an incredible life, defined by unparalleled contributions to medicine, politics and societal progress.

PNP President Mark Golding says the late professor was a devoted comrade and servant of the PNP and his passing is a tremendous loss to the party and the nation.

Professor Davidson was a long standing member of the PNP.

His involvement in the party began in the early 1970s through the PNP Youth Organization, where he emerged as a guiding force, serving as Chairman of both the Western and Eastern Belts.

He also served as Senator and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health in the 1976 PNP government.

Professor Davidson also served as a trusted adviser to his friend, former Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.

The PNP says his dedication to medicine and his unwavering commitment to the PNP will forever be remembered and cherished.
