The People’s National Party, PNP says in light of the spread of the coronavirus the Party will be suspending all its large motorcades and drive-throughs immediately to minimize the incidence of large gatherings.
In a statement this morning, PNP General Secretary, Julian Robinson, says “these activities have proven to be difficult in the enforcement of social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols”.
He says the Party’s campaign teams across the island will intensify the distribution of voters’ guides to electors.
The PNP General Secretary also says the party will continue house-to-house engagement as part of it electioneering exercise in each constituency.
Meanwhile, the Party’s calling on the Electoral Office of Jamaica, EOJ to provide dedicated lines, seats and tents, at voting clusters, for senior citizens during the voting process.
It notes this is to ensure there’s no undue or unnecessary humbug to slow or deter seniors from exercising their democratic right.
The Party says it’s also urging the EOJ to ensure sanitizing stations and or washbasins are within the precincts of the polling process to encourage adherence to the guidelines.
Mr Robinson’s calling on PNP supporters and Jamaicans, in general, to support the COVID-19 election protocols and ensure that they remain safe.
