The Jamaica Police Federation is expressing outrage at the killing of a policeman at the weekend.

Constable Kirkland Plummer was killed at a party in what National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang has described as a barbaric act.

According to Police reports, Constable Plummer had disarmed a man firing an illegal firearm at a party.

The party was in session in contravention of the Disaster Risk Management Act.

He reportedly engaged in a tussle with the man, and the man was shot.

The Police say the patrons of the party then attacked and hurled missiles as the constable and he was also shot.

Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay is Head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit.

She says the the Police are bound to intercept any form of criminality, whether or not they are on official duty.

Communications Director of the Jamaica Police Federation, Inspector Jacqueline Brown says the entity is condemning the attack.

She says the Police Federation will visit Constable Plummer’s family and offer support.
