There’s been a major breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of the Member of Parliament for East Portland, the PNP’s Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield.
Nationwide News understands that the Police have taken into custody a suspect in relation to the killing. The suspect was apprehended Wednesday in a pre-dawn operation. He’s a male in his early 20’s. And according to our sources he’s from Buff Bay in Portland.
Our sources say investigators have been reviewing a series of messages between Dr. Bloomfield and the suspect. It’s understood that the Police have received information that the suspect demanded that Dr. Bloomfield rent a car for him.
Communication has also been intercepted by the Police which show that the man had demanded that Dr. Bloomfield give him $40,000. Other extortion requests were reportedly being made of the East Portland MP.
The suspect has been identified by his alias. He’s to be questioned during the course of this week by Police investigators.
When contacted this afternoon, Head of the JCF’s Major Investigation Branch, MID, Senior Superintendent Cleon Marsh, said he was in a high-level meeting and unable to speak.
Assistant Commissioner McArthur Sutherland of the Police Criminal Investigation Branch, CIB, told our news center that he’d comment on the investigation at a later date.
Dr. Bloomfield’s nude body was found at his house in Passley Gardens in Portland two weeks ago. He was stabbed approximately 20-times. There was no sign of forced entry.
Following his murder, a bloody vest was taken from the crime scene by Police investigators and taken to the forensic lab for testing.
