The Police will continue their investigations today into the murder of one of the founders of the Clarendon-based football club, Sporting Central Academy who was killed in St. Andrew yesterday afternoon.

He’s been identified as 47-year-old John Brandon Murray, a landscaper and a former football player of Clarendon Park in the parish.

A statement issued yesterday by the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU, says Mr. Murray was shot and killed by unknown assailants on West King’s House Close in St. Andrew.

According to the CCU, reports are that about 4:45 in the afternoon, Mr. Murray was walking on the compound of a hotel in the area when he was pounced upon and shot several times.

Crime Officer for the St. Andrew Central Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Winston Hunt, says Mr. Murray was found suffering from gun shot wounds shortly after 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

DSP Hunt says initial reports are Mr. Murray was attacked by two men traveling in a Toyota Probox car.

Murray and Christopher Dawes formed the Red Stripe Premier League club, Sporting Central Academy in 2000.

Murray has served in a variety of posts for the club from manager to club president and club chairman.
