The Westmoreland Police are still searching for the body of a St. Ann fisherman, who is suspected to have drowned in Negril on Sunday.
The man has been identified as 32-year-old Paul Norris of Park Avenue in St. Ann’s Bay.
Norris and his girlfriend booked into a hotel on Negril’s West End on Friday.
Reports are that on Sunday at about 10:20AM, Norris and his girlfriend were at a bar near the cliffs overlooking the sea, taking pictures.
A strong wave reportedly knocked the woman into the sea.
Norris dived in to rescue her but was swept away by strong currents.
The woman was assisted to safety by another man who received support form the marine police who were quick on the scene.
Zone Four Commander for Negril and Little London, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shaunjaye Mitchell, says the currents were strong and it’s highly unlikely Norris had survived.
DSP Mitchell says the police may have to seek the assistance of the Jamaica Defence Force.
