In the first half of 2022 the Jamaica Constabulary Force along with the Jamaica Defence Force seized a total of 3-hundred and 92 firearms.

This is an increase of 7-per cent when compared to the similar period last year.

Speaking at the JCF’s Monthly Press Briefing on Tuesday, Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson, says this represents the largest haul of weapons for the first half of each of the last 5 years.

Meanwhile, Major General Anderson says the Western parishes of St. James, Westmoreland, Trelawny and Hanover have seen  improvements as violent crimes have been reduced.

This he says is a result of the implementation of various initiatives across the Police Area One.

General Anderson also spoke to other Police Areas.
