Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Strategic Operations, Clifford Blake, says the State of Public Emergency currently underway in St. James is reaping significant success.

DCP. Blake went as far as attributing the apprehension of the Salt Spring suspect to the SOE.

The St. James SOE was declared on November 8 in response to the triple killings in Salt Spring.

Without a further extension, which requires a two-thirds majority in both Houses of Parliament, it will come to an end this week.

DCP Blake says the operations under the SOE have also resulted in the significant displacement of criminal gangs.

He’s calling for it to be sustained in order to complete the work.
