Nationwide News understands the Police are to consult with the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, on whether to charge a 21-year-old man for the murder of Dr Lynvale Bloomfield.
The man has been taken back into police custody in connection with the murder of the East Portland MP. He was re-arrested by police investigators from the Major Investigation Division, MID, in St. Andrew. He’s to be interrogated again during the course of this week.
The man was to be questioned by the Police today but was hospitalized last night after complaining about being in pain. He remains in hospital under police guard. He was re-arrested yesterday after scientific evidence connected him to the crime scene.
The young man was arrested a few weeks ago by the police but released.
At that time, he was being treated as a person of interest. But it’s understood the police are now him as a suspect. The man is from Buff Bay in Portland.
He’d given a statement to the police indicating that he had a close friendship with Dr. Bloomfield and was at the MP’s house several hours before the murder. But, he had reportedly denied being present when Dr. Bloomfield was killed.
Attempts were reportedly made by the suspect to extort Dr. Bloomfield. Dr. Bloomfield’s nude body was found at his house in Passley Gardens in Portland on February 2.
The 59-year-old MP and Medical Doctor was stabbed approximately 20-times. There were no signs of forced entry.
