President of the People’s National Party, PNP, Portia Simpson Miller says she’s certain that competent people exist to take over from her when she steps down from the post.
However, she’s making it clear that it’s not a decision she’ll be making this year.
Mrs. Simpson Miller was speaking at the annual East Central St. Andrew Divisional Conference yesterday in Jasciserra Park.
The PNP leader, who’s being challenged by Former PNP Vice President, Dr. Karl Blythe, called for unity within the party, despite differing opinions on how to take it forward.
The PNP President made no mention of concerns raised about her health by Dr. Blythe, nor did she make mention of the campaign funding scandal rocking the party.
She instead told comrades to focus on renewing and refreshing the party at the divisional and constituency levels.
