The Ministry of Agriculture has imposed restrictions on the importation of poultry from North America with immediate effect.

It says the measure is intended to ensure that Jamaica remains free of bird flu.

The Agriculture Ministry says the restrictions affect the importation of live birds and hatching eggs, egg yolks, egg whites; poultry meat; raw pet foods containing poultry; as well as feathers and offal from eight states in the US as well as British Columbia in Canada.
