The Jamaica Prefects’ Association, JPA, is raising concerns that students are planning not to turn up to sit CSEC and CAPE examinations because they believe they’re not adequately prepared.

President of the JPA, Dane Egley, told our news centre some students have already thrown in the towel by not submitting Internal Assessments, IAs, and School Based Assessments, SBAs.

He’s predicting that students who turn up, will get low passes or worse case scenario, fail the exams.

Mr. Egley is calling on CXC to push back the dates for the exams, to prevent a potential increase in poor grades.

The student leader says his peers have voiced their concerns on several occasions.

Mr. Egley further stated that by resuming face to face classes, the Education Ministry has left the students opened to contracting COVID-19.
