The Caribbean Maritime University, CMU will have new leadership today.

The appointment of Professor Andrew Spencer as its new President is now in effect.

According to a statement from CMU, Spencer takes over the mantle of leadership from Professor Emeritus, Evan Duggan, who had served as Interim President from June 1, 2020, until his contract ended.

Professor Duggan served as interim President after former head Professor Fritz Pinnock was brought before the courts to answer fraud-related charges.

The court case is still ongoing with Pinnock resigning as CMU President earlier this year.

Pinnock strongly denies the allegations against him.

The University says Professor Spencer previously served as Deputy Executive Director at the Mona School of Business and Management at the University of the West Indies.

Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the Tourism Product Development Company Limited.
