Nationwide News understands that Professor Gordon Shirley has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Clarendon Alumina Partners, CAP.

The appointment was approved by Cabinet today.

Professor Shirley has been appointed in the post following the resignation of former chairman, Norman Reid, two weeks ago.

Our news centre recently disclosed that Reid resigned in protest at moves being made to extend a controversial contract to a private consulting firm.

The controversy led to portfolio Minister, Robert Montague, requesting and receiving the resignation of the entire board of CAP.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness later transferred CAP from the mining ministry to Dr. Nigel Clarke’s finance ministry.
