The Hanover police say a 15-year-old schoolboy, who is facing seven counts of rape, is to be transferred to the Metcalfe Street Juvenile Centre in Kingston.

The minor was apprehended while he was out on bail for a similar offence.

Head of the Hanover Police Division, Superintendent Sharon Beeput told our news centre that when the boy was arrested, he gave the police a wrong name in an attempt to obscure the fact he was involved in a previous case of rape.

She notes that it’s quite alarming for a minor to be accused in multiple cases of such a serious offence.
