Work has already started to provide relief to families that have been impacted by the recent inclement weather.

That’s according to Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles Junior.

And Minister Charles dismissed claims by the Opposition PNP that the government was cherry-picking locations to assist.

PNP Junior Spokesperson on Local Government, Waynette Strachan, pointed out in a statement on Sunday that government officials have been touring specific areas, focusing solely on certain constituencies.

According to Ms. Strachan, this fails to address the national magnitude of this unprecedented flooding.

She asserted that selective attention to particular constituencies would not meet the expectations of the Jamaican people during this critical time.

But Minister Charles Junior says now is not the time for baseless “politicking”.
