The Bank of Jamaica says net remittances for August this year, came in at USD$165-million, a 0.7-percent increase over the figure for August last year.

The BOJ says that in August, a net figure of USD$116-million was sent to Jamaica from persons living in the United States.

Twenty-seven million US came from the United Kingdom, $21-million from Canada, $10-million from the Cayman Islands and USD$12-million from other destinations.

The BOJ says that between January and August this year, net remittances came in at USD$1.318-billion, a 4-percent increase over the first eight month period in 2014.
