Residents in North East St. Ann say they feel vindicated after it was revealed that their Member of Parliament, Marsha Smith, tops the list of MPs who’ve failed to use up their annual allocations under the Constituency Development Fund, CDF.
This was revealed in a probe by Nationwide News amid increased calls from lawmakers for more funding to carry out their responsibilities as MPs.
From the allocated $20 million dollars for this year, Smith has an outstanding balance of $16.5 million dollars.
Unless she utilises that sum by March 31 next year, it will be returned to the Consolidated Fund.
Speaking on Nationwide@5 last evening, one resident, Tash, says no projects have been done in the area by the MP.
She says children in the constituency are in need of assistance.

Another resident, Sushana Sinclair, says Smith needs to leave the constituency.
She says the 16 million dollars could have greatly assisted in creating a community centre for the residents.
