The Jamaica Agricultural Society, JAS, says the heat and drought conditions are devastating the entire farming sector.
JAS President Lenworth Fulton, says farmers are complaining about limited and in some cases lack of water.
Mr Fulton is forecasting severely negative effects on the next crop of especially vegetables.
The Incorporated Masterbuilders Association of Jamaica, IMAJ, whose members employ construction workers, is calling on health facilities to make special preparations for persons who may get ill due to dehydration.
The President of the IMAJ, Lenworth Kelly, is also urging construction managers to adhere to contractual agreements and allow workers rest times, in cool areas.
