The court has ordered a Resident Magistrate, Stephanie Jackson-Haisley, to pay over thousands of dollars plus interest on money which was owed to her domestic helper.
In January, RM Jackson-Haisley’s helper, Marcia Wellington, filed documents in court alleging that she’s been underpaid by just over 30-thousand dollars.
RM Jackson-Haisley was accused of breaching the Minimum Wage Act.
Miss Wellington says a Judgement was handed down in her favour this month.
The Court directed that 6-percent interest be paid on the outstanding sum.
Miss Wellington says she’s grateful for the intervention of the Court.
Contacted this afternoon the lawyer for RM Jackson-Haisley, Simone Mayhew, said closure has been brought to the dispute.
