People’s National Party (PNP) Chairman, Robert Pickersgill, will not be seeking re-election later this year.

The PNP confirmed yesterday that Mr. Pickersgill would not be seeking re-election. He has been Chairman of the party for the last 25-years.

Party Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips took to twitter to thank Mr. Pickersgill for his service to the party. He wrote “grateful for Cde Bobby Pickersgill #25YearsofService #commitment and leadership and PNP Chairman #NuffRespect #TeamPNPLove”

The party on its official twitter page also thanked Mr. Pickersgill. It wrote “we are grateful to Cde Bobby Pickersgill for 25-years of service, commitment plus leadership as Chairman. Love, your PNP family. #NuffRespect”

So far, two persons have indicated their interest in the position.

The Member of Parliament for South St Catherine, Fitz Jackson indicated late last month that he plans to put himself forward to become the next Chairman of the party.

Deputy Chairman of the party, Anthony Hylton has also indicated an interest in being Chairman.
