The Jamaica Umbrella Group of Churches, JUGC, is adding its voice to calls for the Simpson Miller-led administration to roll back the controversial increase in JUTC bus fares.

In a statement this afternoon the church group urged the Government to address issues affecting the transportation service provided to commuters.

According to the group, fare increases at this time are a strain on the already limited resources of commuters, many of whom have already devoted resources to back-to-school expenses.

Secretary of the group, the Reverend Gary Harriott, says the increases have come at the wrong time.

Reverend Harriott says the Umbrella Group of Churches is also concerned about the way in which the state owned bus company is being managed.
