Several schools were again forced to close their doors early today as smoke from the fire at the Riverton City Dump interrupted classes.
At St Patrick’s Primary in St. Andrew, parents were asked to collect their children from as early as 9am.
The school’s Guidance Counsellor, Kayson Jones, says the smoke from the dump was unbearable.
Mr. Jones says some students had asthma attacks.
Meanwhile Principal of the Hydel Group of Schools, Hyacinth Bennett, says her students and staff are frustrated and angry.
Hydel, which is located a few hundred metres away from the Riverton Dump, again had to call an early end to classes today.
Mrs. Bennett says the nation should be ashamed.
