Police in Manchester are probing the assault of a security guard who was bound and beaten, after thieves attempted to steal an automated banking machine this morning.

George Overton.

The injured guard has been taken to hospital.

The armed men reportedly vandalised the machine, but were unsuccessful in removing it from the location.

They also reportedly failed to retrieve the cash inside.

The police say they’ve increased their patrols around ABMs, banks and other financial institutions.

The incident follows Sunday’s daring heist in Portmore, St. Catherine where thugs ambushed a security team and made off with 23-million dollars in cash.

The police say they’ve identified persons who they think may be able to assist their investigation of that incident.
