Nationwide News understands that a senior officer at the Education Ministry has tested positive for COVID-19.

It’s not clear how the official became exposed to the virus, now in the community spread phase in Jamaica.

But the senior officer has been quarantined.

Sources told our News Centre this afternoon that there are also concerns that Education Minister Fayval Williams may have been exposed to the coronavirus.

When our news centre contacted Minister Williams today she said the Ministry would issue a statement to provide the details.

But up to News time, we’ve not seen a statement from the Ministry.
