Nationwide News understands that investigators assigned to the Major Organised Crime and Anti Corruption Agency, MOCA and the Financial Investigations Division, FID, searched the home of former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Grace McLean on Friday morning.

The operation was confirmed by Major Basil Jarrett of MOCA.

Major Jarrett says several items were seized.

He declined to say if the house of any current employee of the Education Ministry was also searched.

Both the FID and MOCA have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the transfer of 1-hundred-and-24 million dollars to the Joint Committee for Tertiary Education, JCTE, as well as how those monies were spent and accounted for.

When our news centre contacted Dr. McLean’s attorney, Peter Champagnie, he declined to comment.

The King’s Counsel would only say his client strongly denies any impropriety and maintains her innocence.

Mr. Champagnie says Dr. McLean has been cooperating with authorities at every step of the investigation.

Dr. McLean has been on interdiction since January last year.
