Director of the Road Safety Unit in the Ministry of Transport and Mining, Kenute Hare, says a number of motorists have over a thousand unpaid traffic tickets and are still being allowed to drive.
Mr. Hare says he hopes motorists have taken advantage of the recently concluded traffic ticket amnesty.
He says amendments to the Road Traffic Act will help to address the problem.
Mr. Hare’s comments come as the Road Safety Unit is reporting a 16 per cent reduction in road fatalities. He says a number of motorists display a great level of indiscipline on the roads.
