Sixteen persons were taken into custody in Negril, Westmoreland on Monday following a joint operation by the security forces in the parish.

The persons were taken in after several illegal items were seized at a local bar in West End, Negril.

Two men were also charged for breaching the Noise Abatement Act.

They are thirty-two-year-old bar operator, Sudan Lynch and twenty-eight-year-old party promoter, Dennardo Bennett.

Lynch was charged for operating and hosting an event without a permit amongst other Spirit Licence charges while Bennett was charged for hosting an event without obtaining a permit.

Both men are awaiting their court dates.

The Police say the operation also yielded one 9mm pistol and ten 9mm rounds, one plastic bag containing ninety six parcels of vegetable matter, a bag containing cocaine, eleven cellular phones and twenty-seven offensive weapons.

The Police say the identities of the sixteen persons are being withheld pending further investigations.
