President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, JHTA, Clifton Reader, says players in the tourism sector are contemplating terminating businesses if some level of normalcy does not return to the sector by March.
He was reacting to news that Jamaica yesterday joined the growing list of more than 40 countries banning arrivals from the United Kingdom.
Mr Reader says small hotels are more negatively impacted.
The JHTA President says he’s not confident Jamaica will achieve its initial projections for the winter tourist season.
And, he’s urging all persons travelling to Jamaica to get tested for COVID 19.
Mr Reader is also rejecting claims that the tourism sector isn’t viable.
