Dancehall entertainer Spice says she died while being treated for sepsis in the Dominican Republic last year.
Reports started to circulate on social media last October that Spice had suffered a serious medical emergency while in the Caribbean country.
The 40-year-old revealed that she had a hernia, which became infected, leading to sepsis.
Spice has since kept a low profile on social media, emerging just this week to tease a third pregnancy.
But the dancehall artiste, born Grace Hamilton, has taken to Instagram, to open up about the ordeal.
Speaking to her millions of followers, during an Instagram Live session, Spice said “I died in the ER.”
Spice shared a graphic image of what she said is her stomach damaged by the sepsis.
Spice says following treatment in the Dominican Republic she underwent another surgery in the United States before going home to convalesce.
Meanwhile, Spice has dismissed speculation that she went to the Dominican Republic to do cosmetic surgery.
“Not all surgery is cosmetic,” said Spice.
She says her features appeared to have changed because because she couldn’t eat normally due to medical procedures.
In a video accompanying the live, Spice said she underwent four surgeries in three months.
